About Ed Brodow, Author of Beating the Success Trap
ED
BRODOW is a personal testament to escaping the clutches of the success
trap. In his quest for a successful lifestyle, he has been a Marine
Corps officer, IBM computer salesman, movie actor, construction worker,
motivational speaker, toilet cleaner, author, elevator operator, and
television personality.
While working as a highly-paid sales manager for a major computer
manufacturer, Ed asked himself a defining question: "What if your
doctor told you that you have only six months to live? How would you
want to spend that time?" He realized that he was fed up with the
rat race and created his own definition of success: "Right here, right
now, you spend your time doing what is meaningful to you." Quitting
his button-down, corporate job, he became a movie and television actor,
and then a motivational speaker, and has never looked back.
Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Brooklyn College.
After service in the Marine Corps, he held sales management positions
with Litton Industries and the Singer Company before realizing his
lifelong dream of becoming a professional actor. Starting out with
little more than pure nerve, Ed costarred in made-for-TV movies, a
soap opera, commercials, and feature films. He won the lead in the
European film Jackpot, and worked opposite Jessica Lange (Frances),
Ron Howard (Fire on the Mountain), Christopher Reeve (Love
of Life), and other Hollywood luminaries.
Presently, Ed is one of America's leading experts on the art of negotiation.
His Keynotes and Seminars have attracted an impressive client list
that includes Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Learjet, The Gap, Hyatt Hotels,
Cisco Systems, KPMG Peat Marwick, The Pentagon, Philip Morris, Raytheon,
and Zurich Insurance.
Ed is the author of Negotiation Boot Camp, Fixer
and The Stamp and has been featured as negotiation guru
on ABC National News, Fox News, Inside Edition, PBS, and Fortune Business
Report.
